Dear Jewell Fans,
This weekend we started off the season in normal Jewell tennis fashion. Friday night we took care of business by convincingly beating Doane 9-0. That next morning we took down Nebraska Wesleyan, which is the 41st team in the nation, winning 8-1. Later on that afternoon we beat Central College 6-3 in the same arena. This is the second year in a row that we have started off the season winning our first three matches. These three victories also propelled us up to the 38th spot in the nation. A special thanks goes out to all the parents and fans that drove all the way up to Nebraska to cheer us on to victory. In all three matches we had more fans than the other team and of course they were bringin' the noise as usual. It felt like we had home field advantage. Lastly a special thanks goes out to Brady Worstel who did a fine job of calling out introductions and running us players down after the match to record our score. Our first home match is against Bethel College on Sunday the 28th at Clayview at 11:00. Thanks again for all of your support and we hope to see you there.

Off and Running
The first three weeks of practice just finished up and its clear that the team has come along way. All of the hard work that we have made during the off season is starting to show up in our game and conditioning. Our goal to go to nationals becomes clearer with every practice that we have. However, just a few days before practice started our team lost Michael Wiskirchen for the semester due to health reasons. This is a hearbreaking lose and it will be tough to bounce back from. Our thoughts and prays go out to Michael and his family for a quick recovery and we will see him back out on the court next semester. The national rankings came out and we are ranked 43rd in the nation. Not where we'd like to be but we have the whole season to prove them wrong and climb up the charts. Next week we kick off the season in Nebraska by taking on Doane, Central, and Nebraska Wesleyan. Hope to see you there.
